Dolphin Drilling picks training solutions by Atlas Knowledge

Dolphin Drilling has selected learning technologies provider Atlas Knowledge to deliver a new system to manage the competence and training of its workforce in the UK.

According to the agreement, Atlas Knowledge will oversee the installation and development of the Competence Assurance Management Solution (CAMS) across seven vessels over the next two years.

In addition to the competency programme, Atlas Knowledge will also provide online training courses to the company.

Atlas Knowledge states that CAMS allows companies to assess individual’s knowledge and performance by tracking their levels of competence against national standards, or those set by the company. A complete training record can be housed within the programme for each employee.

Commercial director at Atlas Knowledge Kevin Short said: “Efficiency in all departments has become an increasingly important priority for oil and gas companies, especially when managing high costs and tight budgets. CAMS is the best practical solution for businesses who need secure and up to date information on their employees training qualifications and skill levels.”

Atlas Knowledge further notes that the CAMS programme, which is available as an exclusively electronic platform, was developed with direct input from a 100-strong industry advisory group. CAMS’ data tracking software allows businesses to record and continuously update the competence of every employee from a central hub and online cloud.

“Businesses in oil and gas often work internationally, so they need competency solutions for their business that can be accessed with convenience as projects are ongoing,” said Short. “Up-to-date training is a priority for many businesses, and keeping track of paper based training records can be highly time consuming. CAMS enables all staff records to be held in a secure, automated format and allows businesses to get on with their day to day work.”

The cloud hosted solution will be implemented to track the competence of employees, as well as providing a forum for communications and support, to allow records to be accessed remotely by staff in several different locations around the world.

Learning and Development Manager at Dolphin Drilling, Katie Powell said: “We are delighted to be working with Atlas Knowledge on this critical business project. We are excited about launching an innovative online solution that is robust and sophisticated enough to handle a high majority of our competence, training and learning needs. In time, this initiative will be of great benefit to the learner as well as being highly cost effective and efficient for the organisation.”
