Dolphin in 3D shoot offshore Australia

Dolphin has initiated a large 3D Sharp Broadband Multi-Client survey covering approximately 15,000 sq.km offshore Australia.

In cooperation with TGS and supported by major oil companies, Dolphin has mobilised its high capacity 3D vessel the Sanco Swift to acquire the North Carnarvon Basin survey covering both newly awarded licensed and open acreage.

Dolphin will perform full broadband seismic processing of the survey data to produce a high quality onboard Post Stack Time Migrated Fast-Track volume followed by the Pre-Stack Time Migrated dataset. According to Dolphin, all processing will be performed with input from supporting clients.

Prior to this survey and in collaboration with TGS, Dolphin will complete Phase 1 of approximately 2,500 sq.km of the Monuments MC 3D survey with the same vessel. This is due to be completed around June 25, 2015.

“This survey extends TGS’s current 3D data coverage in an important hydrocarbon- rich region and positions TGS well in relation to future expected exploration activity from our clients,” commented Stein Ove Isaksen, Senior VP Eastern Hemisphere for TGS.

Dolphin says that the acquisition parameters for both these MC surveys utilise 10 streamers with 150m separations and 8,100m offsets.

Ian T Edwards, Vice President of Multi-Client and New Ventures for Dolphin said: “Although the company has successfully operated vessels in Australia for the past two years, this is our first Multi-Client project in the country designed and promoted by Dolphin. We are very pleased to have attracted support from two of the world’s largest operators, Shell and Statoil.”
