DonJon Marine Wins Newark Bay Dredging Contract

DonJon Marine Co. Inc., a Hillside, NJ based dredging company, has won a $14.6 million firm-fixed-price contract for the Newark Bay maintenance dredging project, according to the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).

This cleanup scheme will be performed in Newark, New Jersey, with an estimated completion date of November 8, 2016.

Due to restrictions found in the water quality certificate, the proposed work can only be performed by utilizing a mechanical dredge with a closed clamshell environmental bucket.

The dredged material will be processed and subsequently transported to and placed at a contractor furnished, state permitted upland placement site.

The Newark Bay maintenance dredging program will ensure the uninterrupted flow of commerce in the Port of New York and New Jersey and safe access for ships to navigate to the container terminals in the area.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, is the contracting activity.
