Expro to Use AX-S Subsea Well Intervention System on Two Wells (UK)

Leading international oilfield services company Expro has been awarded a contract for work in the North Sea using its ground-breaking AX-S subsea well intervention system.

Expro AX-S Technology Ltd has signed a multi-million dollar contract with BG Group to intervene on two wells in late 2012 as well as an extended intervention campaign going into 2013 and beyond.

The well interventions will consist of in-well wireline activity, including production logging utilising a well tractor and subsea tree removal.

This contract is a significant win for the AX-S team as it looks to enhance its life of field vision for subsea developments with its AX-S system. The AX-S system successfully completed its final commissioning in a Norwegian Fjord, in May.

This contract comes as Expro AX-S Technology Ltd was awarded the Offshore Achievement Innovator Award in recognition of AX-S as an innovative technical solution developed for the offshore energy sector.

AX-S is a unique, remotely-operated, inherently safe and cost-effective intervention system, operated from a mid-sized construction vessel. AX-S will change the way in which oil and gas companies can access and intervene on their subsea well assets at any water depth down to 10,000ft.

The AX-S system is now available for commercial use on virtually any subsea well in the world.

Dave Shand, AX-S managing director, said: “After a completely successful trial in Norway, the AX-S system is now ready and we are now in a position to offer AX-S as a safe and cost-effective well intervention life of field solution.

“I am extremely pleased that we can provide BG Group with a solution to their well intervention needs.”
