Ferus Smit Prepares to Launch Arklow Bank

Ferus Smit shipyard will hold a launching ceremony, on Friday, November 15th, for a newbuild general cargo ship ‘Arklow Bank’ (Nb. 409).

The vessel is the first in a series of six that will be delivered to a client from the city of Arklow, Ireland. The vessel is designed as a bulk oriented general cargo ship that will be mainly employed in the shipment of wheat, corn and other bulk commodities in European waters.

The ships will have the following characteristics:

Loa = 119.495 m

Lpp = 116.895 m

B = 14.99 m

D = 9.70 m

T max = 7.160 m

DW max = abt 8400 ton

Hold volume = 350.000 cft

Delivery of Arklow Bank is scheduled for January 2014.
