Finnlines Offloads Ro-Pax Vessel

Finnish RoRo and passenger shipping company Finnlines Plc has sold the ro-pax vessel, MS Finneagle, to the Grimaldi Group, the company said.

The sale is said to be part of a strategy aimed at optimising the use of the company’s vessels and routes in order to improve its profitability.

MS Finneagle was chartered out to the Grimaldi Group from June 2017. The delivery of the vessel to the Grimaldi Group will take place in October 2017.

The freight capacity of the vessel, built in 1999, is 2,459 lane meters and passenger capacity 835 passengers.

The company has 21 ships in its fleet.

In September, Finnlines sent its first Breeze ship to the shipyard to begin its lengthening program.

The lengthening operations would be undertaken on MS Finnsky, MS Finnsun, MS Finntide, and MS Finnwave.

For the first half of this year, Finnlines reported a 16 percent improvement in business performance, booking a net profit of EUR 35.4, against 30.5 million in 2016, representing the best first half-year result in Finnlines’ history.
