First March LNG cargo for UK’s South Hook

The UK’s South Hook LNG import terminal is expected to receive its first cargo of the chilled gas for the month of March.

One of the biggest LNG tankers in the world, the 266,000 cbm Zarga, is transporting the cargo from Qatar, and it is due to dock at South Hook’s jetty on March 3.

The beginning of 2015 has been quite busy for one of Europe’s largest LNG regasification terminals, based in Milford Haven. South Hook can provide up to 20 percent of UK’s natural gas needs.

The £1 billion LNG terminal received is first cargo of the chilled gas in March 2009, and was fully operational in April of 2010.
