Fog Closes Bosporus Strait

Heavy fog has resulted in temporary closing down of the Bosporus Strait to tanker traffic, according to Gulf Agency Company ( GAC).

Based on ship agent sources, quoted by Platts, the Strait closed at 07:10 am [0510 GMT] today due to fog and low visibility that endangered safe navigation.

Information on when the Strait will reopen was not disclosed.

The Bosporus, the world’s narrowest strait used for international navigation, connects the Black Sea with the Sea of Marmara. The Bosporus, the Sea of Marmara, and the Dardanelles Strait to the southwest make up together the Turkish Straits.
