Fog Closes Texas Ports Once More

The Texas ports of Houston, Galveston, Freeport and Corpus Christi have all been closed yesterday evening or this morning local time due to dense fog, GAC reports.

A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 1 pm CDT this afternoon.

A broad surface ridge of high pressure extends from coastal Texas to the Flroida Panhandle.

Light southeast winds will persist for much of the week ahead. As warm moist air overrides cooler shelf waters, periods of sea fog are expected to develop. The fog will be persistent and probably linger through Saturday.

Areas of dense fog with visibility 1 nm or less are expected in the morning, with patchy fog in the afternoon.

Thick sea fog had already halted operations at the western US Gulf ports of Beaumont, Galveston, Houston, Texas City and Port Arthur in the first week of March.
