Fratelli Cosulich’s first in four-vessel methanol-ready bunker tanker series hits the water

Italy’s maritime transportation group Fratelli Cosulich has launched the first unit in its four-ship methanol-powered IMO II chemical bunker tanker series, under construction in China.

The vessel named Anna Cosulich was launched on February 4 at the Taizhou Maple Leaf Shipyard in China, with Giovanna Cibin, Managing Director of Express Global Hong Kong, officially releasing the vessel into the water as its godmother.

The vessel entered the construction phase in April 2025. Designed to transport a variety of cargoes, such as fuel oil, biofuels, and methanol, the newbuild is equipped with two mass flow meters, MarineLINE cargo tank coating, and all equipment necessary for methanol bunkering, as per local regulations.

It is part of a series of four 7,999 dwt bunker tankers ordered by Fratelli Cosulich in 2024 and early 2025. A steel-cutting ceremony for the second unit, Lucia Cosulich, was held in July 2025.

In October 2025, on the same day the third vessel, Carlotta Cosulich, entered the construction phase, the Italian company launched its methanol-powered IMO II chemical bunker tanker newbuild Maya Cosulich.

Fully compliant with MPA methanol bunkering standards, Maya Cosulich will be among the first methanol dual-fuel bunker tankers to operate in the Port of Singapore.
