Fremantle Port: Invitation for EOI for Automotive Ro-Ro Terminal (Australia)

Fremantle Port Invitation for EOI for Automotive Ro-Ro Terminal

Fremantle Port is Western Australia’s largest automotive and Ro-Ro port, handling over 120,000 vehicle imports and 180,000 tonnes of other Ro-Ro cargo annually. These trades are accommodated currently at the eastern end of Victoria Quay and on North Quay Berths 11 and 12 in the Inner Harbour.

Fremantle Ports’ Chief Executive Officer, Chris Leatt-Hayter said the port’s automotive and Ro-Ro trades had grown at average annual rates of 8 percent and 10.6 percent respectively over the past 10 years.

The strong growth is forecast to continue, driven by Western Australia’s high- performing economy and fast-growing population” he said.

“The development of a dedicated terminal for the automotive and Ro-Ro trades on Victoria Quay presents an outstanding opportunity to service this important and fast growing market.

Fremantle Ports’ aim is to develop capacity to ensure the port can service shipping lines and importers in a way that is comparable with leading automotive and Ro-Ro terminals internationally.”

The invitation for expressions of interest seeks parties interested in developing and operating a world-class terminal, with the use of innovative design and improved operating practices to ensure sustainable growth.

Long-term tenure is available over a 10-hectare site.
