G8 Subsea Buys Aleron ROV

Aberdeenshire-based Aleron has sold the XL150 remotely operated vehicle (ROV) to a new client in South East Asia, G8 Subsea.

The XL150 has seen several upgrades performed by Aleron Subsea including a single mode-upgrade to boost its survey capability and an HPU upgrade taking the system to 150HP to operate high powered tooling, the company explained.

Aleron business development manager, Gary McConnell, said, “The sale of the upgraded XL150 is another example of the progression Aleron Subsea is making as a global equipment provider. The XL150 goes back into the market as a cost efficient ROV, able to compete in high specification contracts.

G8 Subsea’s managing director Gerald Tan said: “The XL is specifically targeted to serve the Indonesian market as we see a growing demand in Work Class ROV systems here. G8 Subsea is planning to expand its ROV fleet and ROV Care maintenance program to achieve the highest reliability and cost efficiency in subsea operations. We are very pleased to further establish this strong collaboration with Aleron as we expand our technological capabilities and services throughout Asia.”
