GALLERY: Strategic Marine’s new OSV set to serve offshore platforms in Middle East

Rapido Gee, a 42 meters long steel monohull utility vessel, built by Strategic Marine, has been delivered.

Designed by Incat Crowther, Rapido Gee is currently in transit to the Middle East, where it will be operated by Rashied Marine Services in the service of offshore platforms.

“In response to calls for construction simplicity, Incat Crowther re-engineered the vessel with mild steel used in the hull in place of the original high tensile steel. The result is reduced material cost and material lead times with only minor impact to the vessel’s performance,” Incat Crowther said.

Rapido Gee features a 100 square metre aft working deck, with 40 tonnes of cargo capacity. Stern and bow platforms are fitted for personnel transfers.

The main deck cabin seats 40 personnel, as well as accommodating 100 survivors in the event that the vessel is called into an emergency situation. A sick bay is also located on this deck, as are a galley, crew mess and food storage for the vessel’s 14 crew.

The vessel’s propulsion system consists of a trio of Yanmar 12AYM-WET main engines, the center of which drives a fire pump. Propulsion is by fixed-pitch propellers via ZF gearboxes. Rapido Gee has a service speed of 20 knots.
