Gas Leak Stops Production at Gjoa

Engie E&P Norge has reported a gas leak from Gjøa field located in the North Sea.

The leak, which occurred Wednesday night, has been reported to be under control. The gas leak has been stopped and the situation on board the Gjøa platform is under normalisation, Engie said. Production is currently shut down.

Gjøa is located 60 kilometers west of Florø and is operated with power from shore through a 100 km long submarine cable from Mongstad. The field has been developed using subsea templates tied back to a semi-submersible integrated facility.

The installation had 49 people on board when the incident occurred. 19 people were demobilised by helicopter and brought to a support center in Florø. Engie said that no injuries have been reported.
