Gazprom advocates use of LNG as fuel in Bolivia

Gazprom’s Alexey Miller and Luis Alberto Sanchez, Bolivian Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy signed a memorandum of understanding to promote the use of liquefied natural gas.

Under the memorandum, both parties plan to implement projects aimed at using natural gas as fuel in passenger, freight and river transportation in Bolivia, as well as for autonomous supply purposes, Gazprom revealed in a statement on Thursday.

Additionally, Russian gas giant and Bolivia agreed to collaborate in the exploration, production and transportation of hydrocarbons, construction and upgrading of oil and gas infrastructure, as well as building of power generation capacities in Bolivia and developing the country’s NGV market.

All agreements have been signed during the visit of a Gazprom delegation to Bolivia, where the Russian giant’s head, Alexey Miller also met with Evo Morales, President of Bolivia.

The agreement also provides for a possibility of cooperation in energy projects outside Russia and Bolivia.
