GCCA Selects Carnegie Wave as Top 30 Finalist (Australia)

Wave energy developer Carnegie Wave Energy Limited announces that it is one of only two Australian cleantech companies shortlisted as a Global Top 30 2012 semi-finalist by the Global Cleantech Cluster Association (GCCA).

The GCCA announced its Global Top 30 semi-finalists for its 2012 Later Stage Award for “rising stars” in the industry who are best-positioned to attract investment for growth. The Global Top 30 – chosen from an original field of 4000 – will, over the next three months, be judged by 28 cleantech VCs, investors and entrepreneurs, who have collectively invested over $3.5 billion in clean technology world-wide.

GCCA Head Judge Dr Peter Adriaens, who helped develop the competition’s selection method, said the Global Top 30 proved strong product differentiation and viable business models, as well as securing solid market traction in their various sub-sectors.

“The 2012 Global Top 30 truly are the world’s top-tier cleantech companies,” Adriaens said.

Winners in the 10 Later Stage Award categories will be announced on announced on November 12.

The GCCA Later Stage Award Global Top 30 Finalists were selected out of the 4000 companies represented by the GCCA’s 45 member clusters. The Top 30 finalists were screened for investment grade using a Keystone Method™, a business and venture development tool that has been reliably used since 2006. The Keystone Method was developed by GCCA Head Judge Dr. Peter Adriaens and CleanTech Acceleration Partners at the University of Michigan.

“Choosing 30 companies out of this year’s 200 nominations was an extremely competitive process,” said Ben Taube, Chairman of the GCCA. “These Top 30 Finalists represent a premier group of rising stars in the clean technology industry.”

Carnegie was nominated for the GCCA Later Stage Award by the Australian CleanTech in May 2012. Carnegie, along with the other 2012 Global Top 30 companies, will be honoured at the GCCA’s Later Stage Award Dinner, held in conjunction with the Savannah International Clean Energy Conference, on November 12, 2012. The 2012 Later Stage Award is sponsored by Deloitte.

Winners of the 2012 GCCA Later Stage Award will present their companies at the Savannah International Clean Energy Conference (November 11- 13). The event is set to be a global gathering of the top-tier cleantech and energy professionals from across the globe. Keynotes and panel topics will explore the significance and worldwide impact of clean energy independence, clean technologies and economic growth. The conference is presented in collaboration with CleanTech Connections, The Pendleton Consulting Group, Stephen Green, incoming chair of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and Watershed Capital Group.
