Genel director stands down

Genel Energy, an independent oil and gas exploration and production company with assets in Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire, has announced that Jim Leng has indicated his intention to retire from the Board of Genel at the AGM in April 2016.

Jim Leng has served over five years at Genel as Non-Executive Director, Senior Independent Director and as Chairman of the Remuneration Committee.

Following his appointment in December 2015 as Non-Executive Chairman of Nomura Europe Holdings plc, Leng has decided that now is an appropriate time for him to stand down, the oil company explained.

Genel announced that George Rose will become Senior Independent Director of Genel following Leng’s departure. The Nomination Committee will review the composition of the Board committees over the coming weeks, the company said.

Tony Hayward, Chairman of Genel Energy, said: “Jim has been an integral member of the Board since the merger with Genel in 2011, and his experience and insight have been invaluable in helping create a leading London listed E&P company.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Jim, and all of us at Genel would like to wish him the very best in his future endeavours.”
