Germany: RWE Dea COO to Retire at 2012 End

The Supervisory Board of RWE Dea AG, a Hamburg based international company operating in the field of exploration and production of natural gas and crude oil, on Friday, February 10, appointed Dirk Warzecha as member of the Executive Board of the company, to take effect on 1 November 2012.

As of 1 January 2013, he will take over as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of RWE Dea AG. Warzecha’s predecessor in this position, Ralf to Baben will retire from active duty on 31 December 2012.

Warzecha is currently General Manager of RWE Dea Egypt in Cairo. Prior to that, the petroleum engineer held various managing positions at RWE Dea since he joined the Group in 2003 – for example as Head of Reservoirs and Senior District Manager Holstein. Before joining RWE, Warzecha worked at Preussag Energie GmbH for ten years, supervising projects in Germany, Tunisia, Venezuela and Ecuador.

Dr. Leonhard Birnbaum, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of RWE AG and Supervisory Board Chairman of RWE Dea AG commented on the decision: “In his more than ten years with RWE, Ralf to Baben continuously contributed his extensive operational and technical competence and in his time as COO of RWE Dea AG, he was a key contributor to the advancement of the company.
