GTT said on Wednesday that the vessels had a capacity of 15,000 TEU and would be built on behalf of a European ship-owner.

The company added that the LNG fuel tanks would be capable of holding 14,000 cubic meters of LNG per ship. GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system was chosen for its space optimization allowing maximum usage of cargo capacity.

According to GTT, the delivery of the vessels is scheduled to happen between the second half of 2021 and the first half of 2022.

Philippe Berterottière, chairman and CEO of GTT, said: “Less than 18 months after the first order for LNG-fuelled container ships, we are delighted to confirm, with this new order, the interest and effectiveness of our solutions to address the emerging environmental challenges for shipping.
