Gunmen abduct brother of OPEC president

Gunmen have kidnapped a younger brother of Nigeria’s oil minister and OPEC chief Diezani Alison-Madueke.

According to AFP, Joseph Agama was taken hostage Thursday in southern Bayelsa state in Nigeria. The news agency says that the investigation has been launched. No group has come forward yet to claim responsibility for the abduction.

This is not the first time the oil minister’s sibling has been kidnapped. Last October gunmen seized Alison Madueke’s sister Osiyo Agama. She was subsequently retrieved by security forces.

Alison-Madueke is the first female president of OPEC. After being elected in November last year, she replaced Abdourhman Atahar Al-Ahirish, from Libya.
