Indonesian Govt. Warned on Risks to Implement Fishing Certification Policy

Prior to the implementation of SHT, certification for fishing boats to net fish in Indonesia’s territory, activists warned Indonesian government on Wednesday that the policy implementation could risk the development of Indonesian traditional fishermen. Responding to the Maritime and Fisheries Ministry’s plan to implement the certification in January next year, activists joined in People’s Coalition for Fishery Justice (KIARA) said that the certification would pave the way for foreign large-sized trawl fishing ships to freely take fish in Indonesian territory.
