Local Northrop Grumman unit gets U.K. Maritime study contract

Northrop Grumman Corp. said today its unit in Bethpage has been awarded a contract to study ways the United Kingdom could develop aircraft systems to patrol the vast seas surrounding the country.

No dollar amount was given for the study contract.
In an announcement before markets opened, the Los Angeles-based aerospace and defense giant said that its Airborne Early Warning unit in Bethpage has been selected to investigate the feasibility of developing a manned rotary-wing aircraft for the U.K.’s Maritime Airborne Surveillance and Control program.
