Giant iceberg blocks Aussie ship

A SHIP carrying a team of Australians to a remote Antarctic outpost has been stopped in its tracks by a 130km-long iceberg which is blocking a vital access route.

The giant berg, which is sitting approximately 100km from the coast of Adelie Land, in eastern Australian Antarctic Territory, is also wedged in thick pack ice, creating an even bigger obstacle for the French resupply vessel L’Astrolabe.
