Turin, Italy – ADI, the Industrial Design Association awards the Wally 80 Shaka (now Highland Fling X) with the Compasso d’Oro, the world’s most important recognition for quality and design, rewarding the product, the project, and the research.

The international jury made of Architects, Designers, Directors of Art Museums selected Shaka (now Highland Fling X) among the over the 3,000 products in competition covering all the different markets such as cars, furniture, lights, installations, books, graphics.
This 21st edition of the Compasso d’Oro awarded 10 products only, besides from awarding the career of six designers-architects and two international prizes.

Shaka features the lines of Farr Yacht Design and the interior and styling of Lazzarini Pickering Architects, and she is described by the jury as “a yacht both for cruising and racing, built in light materials, characterised by the Plexiglas skylight giving light to the interiors. The teak deck is flush and the cockpit has removable tables and seatings. The interiors are characterised by the prevailing use of carbon fiber, the flexibility of the layout, the careful selection of the colours, and of the detail design such as the wardrobe made of bespoke leather bags and the raised edge of the shelves to prevent the objects from falling.”

The Compasso d’Oro prize was created by Rinascente in 1954, and is awarded every three years to the products introduced in the market during the previous three years.
This prize confirms that Wally is regarded as the state of the art in yacht design, in and outside the yachting industry.
