Naming ceremony for new warship

A naming ceremony for the first warship to be entirely built in Portsmouth for nearly 40 years is taking place.
HMS Clyde is the first vessel to emerge from the Hampshire naval base since 1967, when Leander-class frigate HMS Andromeda was completed.

The 80-metre (262ft) offshore patrol vessel will be chartered to the MoD and deployed in the Falklands next Spring.

VT Shipbuilding, the company which made the ship, said the ceremony on Thursday was “a special moment”.
