Maersk announces rate rises

Maersk Line plans further freight rate rises to tackle “unacceptable” and “unsustainable” revenues in the Far East to Europe trades.

Rates on Far East services to the Mediterranean and North Europe will rise by US$300/teu on 1 July and a peak season surcharge will also come into force from 1 August until 31 October. “The increases apply to all cargo and commodities, including reefers and special equipment,” said a Maersk Line statement.
