InterMoor Completes Contract with AGR Offshore Falkland Islands

InterMoor, an Acteon company, has completed a 27-month contract for AGR on their multi-client exploration drilling project off the Falkland Islands. The campaign kicked off early 2010 with the mobilization of Diamond Drilling’s Ocean Guardian semisubmersible from Invergordon, UK, and the 164-day roundtrip tow to exploration locations in the remote North Falkland basin and one well in the South Falklands basin.

Starting with the initial rig move InterMoor provided full project management of the marine services, which were handled from Aberdeen with a dedicated Marine Superintendent and Surveyors based in the Falklands to deliver round-the-clock support throughout the project.

The project called for a range of services including procedures, engineering, analysis, onand offshore support and mariners offshore. AGR chose InterMoor for its extensive experience in this arena and the company’s in-house technical capability.

To ensure smooth operations, InterMoor provided a dedicated marine representative to AGR who acted as the focal point for managing all of InterMoor’s in-house services in Aberdeen along with a dedicated account manager to cover non-operational issues. This arrangement enabled the drilling and marine teams to focus on operations in country.

A project team of surveyors, engineers, equipment coordinators and a project accountant were assembled in Aberdeen, with mariners and surveyors sent to the Falkland Islands on a 28/28 rotational basis for the term of the campaign. InterMoor also provided all the necessary mooring and survey equipment .

Alan Duncan, InterMoor UK Managing Director, said, “We have worked with AGR for some time now, however this was a particularly demanding project that involved careful planning, execution of 17 separate rig moves in a short period in a very remote location.

These moves were conducted successfully and in a timely fashion with no lost-time-incidents. AGR rated our performance on the project as excellent in product delivery, service quality, planning and delivery, health and safety, skills and competence, and client interfacing.”
