InterMoor Joins Ankerite Joint Industry Project

InterMoor has confirmed its participation in the Joint Industry Project (JIP) Ankerite promoted by Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) jointly with DNV GL and University of Western Australia.

The JIP aims to establish a simple calculation tool for assessment of drag anchors in silts and sands worldwide.

Simon Gatcliffe, vice president at InterMoor APAC and Noel Boylan, managing director and principal engineer at NGI Perth met in Perth in January 2019 to sign the agreement.

The Ankerite JIP focusses on drag anchor mooring systems and the methodologies used to assess drag anchor behaviour and operational capacity.

The overall objective is to increase reliability in the assessment of drag anchor performance, with particular attention on the behaviour for anchors installed in challenging silts and sands (both siliceous and carbonate). The objective of the JIP is to define a fit-for-purpose design methodology.

The project will be managed from Perth by Dr. Sarah Elkhatib, principal engineer of NGI Perth. The reference point for InterMoor will be Dr. Fabrizio Pistani, InterMoor APAC regional engineering manager in Perth.
