John Deere Presents Reliable Tier 3 Marine Engine Lineup

John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) will meet U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Marine Tier 3 emissions regulations with a complete lineup of diesel engines from 74 to 559 kW (99 to 750 hp). New PowerTech™ 9.0L and 13.5L Tier 3 propulsion and generator-drive engines join the previously announced 4.5L and 6.8L Tier 3 models, offering customers a full range of powerful and reliable choices for commercial and recreational applications.

John Deere Tier 3 marine engines meet current European Union emissions requirements for propulsion engines used on recreational crafts and inland waterway vessels. They also meet current limits established by International Maritime Organization (IMO) MARPOL Annex VI.

John Deere 9.0L and 13.5L Tier 3 marine engines offer customers hassle-free replacement options,” said Carl Micu, manager of North American engine sales for JDPS. “Our larger Tier 2 marine engines were developed with Tier 3 emissions regulations in mind, allowing us to transition to Tier 3 without significant hardware changes. These engines will provide customers with a similar package and performance while meeting the more stringent regulations.”

In addition to emissions compliance, our complete Tier 3 marine engine lineup offers the power, reliable performance, long life, fuel efficiency, quiet operation, ease of maintenance and simplified integration that customers have come to expect from John Deere.”

The PowerTech 6090AFM85, PowerTech 6090SFM85, PowerTech 6135AFM85 and PowerTech 6135SFM85 propulsion and generator-drive engines are the latest additions to the John Deere Tier 3 lineup. Tier 3 regulations impacting these 9.0L and 13.5L engines take effect in 2014.
