Lithuania could sign two LNG supply deals with US exporters

Lithuanian Energy Minister Rokas Masiulis left on Sunday for a week-long visit to the United States to discuss LNG imports among other things. 

Masiulis will meet with US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz, Lithuania’s Ministry of Energy said.

Masiulis told that European Union needs to enhance its energy security. He said in an interview with BNS that Lithuania is aiming to secure US support and hopes that several preliminary agreements could be signed as details are still being finalized. As he revealed at least two deals with US suppliers should be signed.

According to Masiulis, with excess supply Lithuania has become an interesting customer to the US LNG exporters and securing US LNG supply has been a top priority for the Lithuanian government.
