Lithuania: Klaipeda LNG regas volumes up in June

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) volumes at Lithuania’s first and only import terminal in the port of Klaipeda jumped in June compared to the corresponding month last year.
Klaipėdos Nafta, the LNG terminal operator, on Tuesday said that its facility regasified and reloaded 819,000 MWh of natural gas, a 24.3 percent increase compared to June 2017.
However, looking at the regasification volumes for the first half of the year, Klaipedos Nafta’s facility regasified and reloaded a total of 4.5 TWh, 7.2 percent below the 4.9 TWh during the first six months of 2017.
The preliminary sales revenue of the company’s LNG terminal for June reached €5.3 million ($6.2 million), sliding 3.6 percent from €5.5 million recorded in June last year. Likewise, the sales revenue for the first six months dropped 6.9 percent from €35 million in 2017 to €32.6 million.
Lithuania, the largest of the three Baltic nations started importing LNG in December 2014. The FSRU currently provides Lithuania with roughly half of its gas needs with the rest being sourced from Russian Gazprom.
