Lithuanian LNG platform created

Six Lithuanian partners have set up an LNG platform aiming to strengthen and develop the liquefied natural gas market and relevant activities in Lithuania.

The partners of the LNG platform, Klaipėdos Nafta, Ligas, Amber Grid, Lietuvos Dujų Tiekimas, Klaipėda University, and the Lithuanian LNG cluster set up the LNG platform in Lithuania in accordance with the letter of intent on cooperation signed with the national LNG platform of the Kingdom of the Netherlands on June 28, 2016.

“During the three years of the operation of the Klaipėda LNG terminal, we have developed the LNG infrastructure and created a broad range of LNG activities,” said the Lithuanian minister of energy Žygimantas Vaičiūnas.

He added that the LNG platform members joined forces to seek “real possibilities to apply this type of fuel in practice as extensively as possible and make it available for a wider group of consumers,” as the fuel gathers speed in application in industry and logistics.

The partners of the platform are seeking to promote the use of LNG, as a new, cleaner and quieter fuel, in the transport, industrial and other sectors and create the common information and work platform of all potential participants of the LNG market.
