Lloyd’s Register Energy – Drilling Recognized with Queen’s Award

Lloyd's Register Energy Recognized with Royal Award

Aberdeen’s Lord Lieutenant George Adam, acting on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, presented ModuSpec Engineering UK Limited, now Lloyd’s Register Energy – Drilling with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade award to mark its sustained business expansion.

Lloyd’s Register Energy – Drilling UK is an Aberdeen-based market leading company, providing a range of innovative services to ensure the operational integrity of drilling assets for the oil and gas sector, often working in hostile environments.

To be awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the category of International Trade, a company must show a substantial and sustained increase in export earnings over three consecutive 12 month periods, to a level which is outstanding for the products and services concerned, and for the size of the organisation.

Lloyd’s Register Energy – Drilling UK has achieved significant sales in the Netherlands, Norway and the US and increasingly in South Korea. High demand for new build drilling rigs, partly due to oil demand and the age of units currently in operation, has also seen a sharp increase for technical coaching delivered from the company’s training academy.

Margaret Mulcahy, Lloyd’s Register Energy – Drilling Sr Vice President for Europe, Africa & FSU, said: “It is an honour to receive such a high profile award which is a tribute to the hard work put in by our staff over a number of years.”

“For over 25 years it has been ModuSpec’s and now Lloyd’s Register Energy – Drilling’s commitment to make the drilling industry safer. We believe each of us acting within the drilling industry has a responsibility to limit risks associated to drilling operations – it is LRED’s vision to work together with drilling contractors, operators, regulatory bodies and all other industry colleagues to achieve this goal,” commented Duco de Haan, CEO / Managing Director of Lloyd’s Register Energy – Drilling.

Lloyd’s Register Energy – Drilling UK is one of only 13 Scottish companies to have received a Queen’s Award during 2013. More than half of this number is from the North-east.

Adam, who is also Aberdeen’s Lord Provost, presented Margaret Mulcahy with the Queen’s Award at the city’s Granite Park restaurant.

The Lord-Lieutenant: “I am delighted to present the Queen’s Award for Enterprise to ModuSpec Engineering UK Limited, to mark its sustained business expansion in international trade.

“It is a testament to the business acumen and staff commitment over the years that have led to this prestigious recognition.”
