Cargotec Secures Order for AHC Subsea Crane from Bourbon

Ongoing experience of MacGregor’s offshore cranes has played a significant role in BOURBON ordering another 150-tonne active heave-compensated subsea MacGregor crane.

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has won an order for a 150-tonne active heave-compensated (AHC) subsea crane from leading offshore oil & gas marine services specialist, BOURBON. This builds on a contract that was secured at the end of 2007 from the operator for ten similar cranes.

This crane will be delivered in August 2014 and is, as per nine of the previous order, for a Bourbon Evolution 800 multi-purpose support vessel under construction at Zhejiang Shipyard, in China.

Ongoing experience of MacGregor’s offshore cranes and BOURBON shared return on experience on previous order to MacGregor has played a significant role in BOURBON ordering another 150-tonne active heave-compensated subsea MacGregor crane,” says Frode Grøvan, Sales and Marketing Director for MacGregor Advanced Load Handling.

Designed to meet the new development challenges of offshore oil and gas operations and operate safely at a depth of 3,000 metres, the Bourbon Evolution 800 series vessels offer an array of services at a par with deepwater offshore market in terms of operations and finance. They fit perfectly with BOURBON’s strategy of standardising its fleet, as illustrated by the choice of using the same 150-tonne active heave-compensated subsea MacGregor crane for each vessel.
