Magseis, BGP Clinch Red Sea Seismic for Aramco

Norwegian ocean-bottom seismic specialist, Magseis, has, in combination with China’s BGP, secured a contract on Saudi Aramco’s S78 project for seismic acquisition in the Red Sea.

On January 19, BGP informed it had won the bidding on Saudi Aramcos S78 project. The S78 is Saudi Aramcos’ first 3D survey project in the Red Sea region. According to Magseis, the combination of Magseis’ OBS technology (MASS) and BGP’s transition zone expertise ensured the consortium’s successful bid.

The project is estimated to last 9 months + 1 year and is scheduled to start during July 2016.

The operation zone features surface and geological conditions with a combination of deep and shallow marine work.

Magseis’ OBS vessel, Artemis Athene, will be used for the survey.

The Oslo-listed company did not disclose the commercial terms between the parties.
