Manor Marine Continues Construction of 36.5m MMV

Manor Marine is progressing with the construction of the 36.5m Mooring Maintenance Vessel (MMV) for The Port of London Authority (PLA). About 60% of the hull fabrication, together with the casing and wheelhouse, were on the building berth.

The MMV will weigh-in at around 650 tonnes. It will be more than 36 metres long and 13.5 metres wide, with a maximum draft of 2.2 metres and an air draft of just over six metres. Its crew size will vary depending on the particular job it is sent to do.

The vessel, designed by UK-based naval architects MacDuff Ship Design in close collaboration with PLA marine engineers, masters and crews, will replace the PLA’s two salvage ships, Crossness and Hookness, which have been in operation along the tidal Thames for over 40 years.

Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for the first quarter of 2014.
