Marine Service Noord wins fuel system order for two Doeksen LNG ferries

Marine Service Noord of the Netherlands recently informed it has received an order for the design and mechanical installation of the LNG fuel systems for two new ferries for the Dutch ferry operator Rederij Doeksen.

Rederij Doeksen ordered the vessels at Singapore-based Triyards’ unit Strategic Marine in April, with the contract valued at approximately US$50.1 million.

The ferries will be 70 meters in length and 17 meters wide, with the capacity to carry up to 600 passengers and 64 cars each, Marines Service Noord said in its statement.

Each of the ferries will be powered only by liquefied natural gas. Marine Service Noord will design the LNG fuel tank system from the tanks to the engines with the installations to be built and assembled at the company’s workshop in Westerbroek .

The commissioning works will be carried out by the company in the Netherlands. The two vessels are scheduled for delivery in March 2018 and will operate between Harlingen and Terschelling.
