MPI Dorothea Gets Maxcess System

MPI’s wind-turbine-maintenance vessel, MPI Dorothea, has recently been equipped with the Maxcess T12 system. The vessel’s charterer, Scira, ordered the system earlier this year with the aim of enhancing safety and transfer performance on board MPI Dorothea. The Maxcess system connects to the turbine, ensuring a stable platform for transfer.

Scira currently charters two identical 18m South Boats, operated by MPI Workboats, for the transfer of Siemens’ technicians involved in O&M activities. A comparison of transfer performance between the two vessels and an assessment of reliability of the Maxcess system is planned for the coming months.

Scira estimates that if it can increase access from its current average of 1.1m to 1.8m wave height, it will achieve an increase of 40% in working time. This should ensure that Scira’s operations are not only safer, but significantly more effective with the introduction of Maxcess to its O&M activities.

The vessel is due to start operations at Scira’s Sheringham Shoal site in the coming days.
