MV OCEAN EMPEROR Departs CIC-Changxing after Repair, China

On the 22nd of March 2013, repairs on MV OCEAN EMPEROR were successfully completed at the CIC-Changxing Shipyard enabling the vessel to sail off smoothly.

MV OCEAN EMPEROR, a bulk carrier registered in Greece, was berthed at Changxing Shipyard on 25th February. The main repair activities included: windlass/winch, renewal of hatch cover rubber packing, repair of the main engine, removal of the auxiliary engine air cooler, boiler, removal/refitting of valves, inspecting, cleaning and overhaul of turbocharger, removal of 13 pumps enabling repair of other connected segments, gangways/pilot ladders etc.

Despite large repair workload and tight schedule,  the work teams lead by Production Department, managed to organize the activities and complete the task. Among the most challenging tasks was the repair of 13 pumps, however, 9 pumps were repaired before docking, whereas the remaining part of the work was done onboard.

Finally, regardless of various difficulties that might have compromised the repair the shipyard managed to meet the contracted delivery schedule thus opening the opportunity for continuation of cooperation with the same ship-owner.
