Nautricity is hiring

Nautricity, a Glasgow-based tidal energy developer, is seeking an Electrical Systems Control Engineer to be part of the team delivering its technology development program.

Potential applicants should have a minimum of 2 years experience and an established track record in the application of programmable logic control (PLC) and System Control and Data Analysis (SCADA) systems when applied within a technology development and proving program within a construction, engineering or energy industry enterprise.

Applicants should have an in-depth knowledge and direct experience of working with and implementing PLC and SCADA systems within engineering projects, specifically addressing the configuration and applications of these systems to the operation and performance monitoring of engineering plant, and analysis of the information contained in the output to manage the operations of the plant.

Nautricity has developed a second generation tidal energy converter CoRMaT. It is a contra-rotating turbine, suitable for deployment in water depths of 8 to 500 m, according to at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC).

CoRMaT uses two closely spaced dissimilar rotors, moving in opposite directions directly driving the rotor and rotating stator sections of an electrical generator. Station keeping is undertaken via a tensioned mooring system.

The full scale system underwent testing at EMEC’s Shapinsay Sound test site during 2014. Nautricity has since secured a grid connected tidal test berth at EMEC’s Fall of Warness test site as part of the company’s ongoing commercialization efforts.
