NCE Subsea Organizes Study Tours in Business Culture (Norway)

Malaysia is aiming at becoming the deep-water hub of Southeast Asia, Australia will be the world’s biggest LNG exporter and a major offshore market. To investigate opportunities, a NCE Subsea delegation set forth to learn about business culture and accessible networks.

Study tour participants included delegates from Advantec, Bergen University College, ProAnalysis, Tracerco and the University of Bergen.

Opportunities for Norwegian suppliers in the subsea industry are vast, both in Malaysia and Australia. Study tour participants received a lot of positive feedback on products presented and ideas discussed.

It is expected that companies will utilize opportunities through sales, joint ventures, establishing a company, or signing on an agent. As for Bergen University College and the University of Bergen meetings displayed many options for co-operation with their Australian counterparts.

First academic program

Starting in Kuala Lumpur, the delegation got to visit Emerson/Roxar, Technip, Murphy Oil, Petronas, Aker Solutions, Shell Global, Framo Engineering/Schlumberger and the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority.

In Perth company visits included Deloitte, INTSOK, Nemo Engineering and the Western Australia Briefing Forum. Due to unforeseen circumstances visits and meeting with GE and ClampOn was cancelled. For the first time NCE Subsea also organized an academic program, visiting Western Australian Energy Research Alliance, CURTIN University, The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization and The University of Western Australia.

Networking opportunities and evening cruise

Study tours include many networking opportunities. In Kuala Lumpur, NCE Subsea was invited to the Norwegian Malaysian Chamber of Commerce’s Waterhole reception at the residence of the Norwegian Ambassador, Mr. Hans Ola Urstad. As Guest of Honour, NCE Subsea’s CEO Trond Olsen presented a lithography by the Norwegian artist Petite Skaugen as a token of NCE Subsea’s appreciation.

In Perth the main networking event was the Swan River Cruise organized by NCE Subsea, the Norwegian Embassy in Australia, INTSOK and the Norwegian Pavilion at AOG. Some 150 participants from the oil and gas industry participated.
