New Container Terminal in Vancouver Up For Grabs

Business & Finance

Canada’s Port Metro Vancouver has invited parties interested in the development of the terminal superstructure and equipment, and the subsequent operation of the new container terminal at Roberts Bank to respond to the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for Terminal Development and Operating Concession.

The terminal operator will be in place for a period of up to 40 years and will be responsible for terminal facilities, equipment and ongoing container handling operations.

Interested parties should submit registration documents by June 15, and statements of qualifications by August 28.

The design, financing, construction and maintenance of the land base is planned to be carried out by a Land Base Contractor selected by Port Metro Vancouver in a separate process, subsequent to the selection of the terminal operator.

The Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project is a proposed new three-berth container terminal at Roberts Bank in Delta, British Columbia, on Canada’s west coast.

The project would provide 2.4 million twenty-foot equivalent units of container capacity per year. Subject to environmental permits and approvals and a final investment decision, construction of the terminal could begin in 2018.
