New Service Centre for MAN Marine Engines in the Asian Region

Shanghai Ocean Co., Ltd. – sales partner for MAN high-speed marine engines – opened its new ship service centre on 12th April 2013 in Southern Shanghai, the geographical centre of the Chinese yacht market. The licensed sales partner for efficient MAN marine engines is setting new service standards in the Asian region. At the same time, customers are benefiting from another strong support point for sales and after-sales of MAN engines.

Covering a total of 16,000 square metres, Shanghai Ocean has built a modern workshop and warehouse equipped with state of the art equipment, which thanks to their high quality, guarantee top service to a European standard. The workshop personnel trained at the international Engine Competence Centre in Nuremberg, install, maintain and repair MAN engines on a highly technical level.

With the three-storey 4,300 square metre area including warehouse it is ensured that the right spare part is in stock. A four-storey office building offers sufficient space for the 75 employees and contains a training room including a test bed, in which training sessions on the efficient MAN marine engines can be carried out.

Strong partner in the East Asian region

On 12 April 2013, the day of the official opening of the new service facilities, Mr Peter Schedel, Head of the Sales Department for High-Speed Marine Engines, and Mr Wolfgang Wegner, Head of Marine Application Engineering, visited Managing Director Ye Xiao and his management team to congratulate them on behalf of MAN Truck and Bus AG on the opening of the new subsidiary and the 10-year company anniversary which was celebrated on the same.

The new service centre represents another stronger, more international, support point for Sales and After Sales of MAN engines in the East Asian region. The already strong service network of Shanghai Oceans on the Chinese coast will thus be expanded and adapted to the high international quality standards of MAN.

MAN engines for yachts, pleasure craft and commercial shipping

MAN builds powerful and compact diesel engines delivering from 537 kW to 1,324 kW (730 to 1,800 hp) for yachts and pleasure craft in the 40- to 80-foot classes. For engines in medium-duty operation such as in ferries, passenger and fishing boats, MAN Truck & Bus offers a range of outputs from 294 kW to 1,213 kW (400 hp to 1,650 hp). At the heavy-duty end of the spectrum there are engines with power ratings of 190 kW to 662 kW (258 hp to 900 hp) for tugs, freighters and other working vessels. MAN marine engines feature powerful acceleration and extremely economical fuel consumption. Their advantages are primarily in their excellent power yield and compact dimensions. The engines are shipped ready for installation, and are optimally designed for the particular application and its operating conditions. After installation, MAN offers inspection plus acceptance and commissioning of the engine. All engines comply with international exhaust standards.
