North Sea charter for Vroon

Vroon Offshore Services Aberdeen has secured a five-ship charter and support contract with a major North Sea oil and gas operator.

The contract has been signed for five firm years, followed by four optional years. The vessels operating under this contract will consist of a number of modern, emergency response and rescue and field-support vessels, all currently under construction in the Far East, supplemented by the already established VOS Provider. All newbuild ships will be equipped with a revolutionary, wave-piercing bow shape, exclusively designed for Vroon.

This deal builds on the company’s core fleet of established time charters in the UK sector and will create a critical mass that will enable further growth and additional local recruitment.

Managing Director Evert Maandag commented, “We have recently opened an office in Great Yarmouth, dedicated to local technical support and crew recruitment for our ships operating in that region. It is well known that Great Yarmouth has a strong maritime history and we are very keen to tap into the local pool of well-qualified personnel. This expansion will create job opportunities for over 100 seafarers. Over the last few years we have continually grown our presence in this area. We are now entering the next phase of our development and this contract represents a major leap forward for us. We believe that the combination of investment in new vessels and additional personnel, plus the economies of scale this contract represents, make the future for our company very bright.”
