Norway: Aibel Opens an Office in Harstad

Aibel AS is opening an office in Harstad after the company was awarded the contract for maintenance and modification work on the Norne field. Over 20 employees have already been employed to work at this office, which opens today.

‘Our opening of an office in Harstad is a reflection of both optimism and expansion. We already have an office in Hammerfest and are strengthening our position and presence in North Norway,’ says Jan Skogseth, President and CEO in Aibel AS.

Norne provides work

Aibel’s opening of the office in Harstad is a direct consequence of the company’s award, during the summer, of a contract associated with the Norne field, under which Aibel will carry out maintenance and modification work. Aibel is in a cooperative venture with the Momek Group, which in turn is cooperating with the 10 companies linked to Hålogaland Olje og Energi.

‘This means that local companies will be important for the performance of the Norne contract,’ says Skogseth, who adds that the company wishes to facilitate good interaction with local companies. In this way, positive spin-off effects in the local community can be achieved.

Positive recruitment process

In 2010 Aibel AS has employed over 400 new employees in Norway and internationally. In Harstad as well the company has registered a lot of interest in the published vacancies.

‘Many of the applicants in Harstad have sought-after competence, with regard to both education and relevant experience,’ says Skogseth.

Up until now, 21 people have accepted jobs at the office in Harstad. Nine of these have already started. The objective is to have around 40 employees at this office within the next year.

Aibel’s office in Harstad will be formally opened by the town’s mayor, Helge Eriksen.
