Norway: Seven Oil Companies Purchase NPD’s Seismic Data Package

Seven oil companies have purchased the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate’s seismic data package from Lofoten and Vesterålen, and several more have indicated their interest.

The seven oil companies that have purchased the seismic data package are Statoil, ExxonMobil, Norske Shell, RWE Dea Norge, GDF Suez, Dong Energy and Det norske oljeselskap.

The price of the seismic data package is NOK 43.2 million plus VAT.

“I am very pleased by the response to the offer to purchase seismic data. It’s obvious that the companies find this interesting,” says exploration director Sissel Eriksen in the NPD.

The NPD acquired seismic data off Lofoten, Vesterålen and Senja on assignment from the Norwegian government between 2007 and 2009. These surveys cost a total of NOK 420 million.
