OceanWorks Builds Model Node for Vancouver Aquarium

Vancouver-based subsea solution engineering company, OceanWorks, has constructed a 1/3 scale model node that will be installed in the Vancouver Aquarium’s Strait of Georgia tank later this month.

Built by a team lead by systems engineer Richard Pomerleau, this demonstration node is a representation of the full scale products built by OceanWorks.

Several nodes are deployed off the coast of British Columbia between the mainland and Vancouver Island and are the primary components of the Venus Observatory operated by Ocean Networks Canada (ONC).

The purpose of the new display at the Vancouver aquarium is to inform the general public as to how the waters off the coast of British Columbia and in the Strait of Georgia are monitored. To this end, the display will be accompanied by live streaming data courtesy of ONCs actual Strait of Georgia Venus Observatory.
