OceanWorks employs new head of project management

OceanWorks International, a Houston-based subsea solution engineering company, has appointed Richard Gage as its new Director of the Project Management Office (PMO).

OceanWorks said on Wednesday that Gage would be responsible for overseeing and supporting the successful execution of all projects.

Through the management of the PMO, he will facilitate the required approval of project scopes, schedules, and budgets. Gage’s experience is directly in line with OceanWorks’ growing subsea technology business in oil and gas, submarine rescue, and ocean observing systems, the company said.

Also, the Project Director is in charge of leading the project management personnel and processes to ensure that cost and schedule progression controls are effective, project risks identified and mitigated promptly, and that the company delivers projects on-time and on budget.

Before coming to OceanWorks, Gage worked at BCHydro where his PMO was the recipient of the Project Management Institute (PMI) Office of the Year Award for 2016.

Glen Viau, President of OceanWorks International, said: “I’ve worked with Rich on a number of challenging subsea and offshore projects in the past. His offshore experience combined with his disciplined approach to project management is a welcome addition to our growing team.”

Gage is a second addition to the OceanWorks team in the past several months since Viau himself is a recent addition to the company after being named President in October 2016.
