Pemex gets new director of management and services

Mexican state-owned oil company Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) has appointed a new corporate director of management and services.

Pemex said on Wednesday that Marco Antonio Murillo Soberanis was named as the corporate director of management and services, a position that was until recently held by the current Pemex CEO Carlos Treviño Medina.

Medina vacated the position and took over as CEO in late November. He replaced José Antonio González Anaya, who took over as head of the state-owned company in February 2016.

Soberanis’ career at Pemex spans 33 years. Throughout this time, he has held several senior management positions in the company. From 2002 to 2004 he was in charge of the corporate human resources management division, and later held the position of deputy director of human resources for 11 years. In 2015 he was appointed as the deputy director of labor relations and personnel services.

The company added that he was in charge of the office of corporate management on three separate occasions, in 2009, 2012, and 2017.
