Picture of the day: Gorgon LNG jetty arms itself

In July this year, Chevron’s USD 54 billion Gorgon project in Australia installed the LNG and condensate loading arms on the 2.1 kilometre jetty.

The 10 loading arms were the final major components to be installed on the jetty prior to commissioning activities taking place, Chevron said.

Installing the arms requires a complex multi-lift operation to lift and position each of the arms into place. In total, the transportation and installation process involved 30 lifts with the heaviest weighing almost 100 tonnes.

During operations, the loading arms will be used to connect to the cargo vessels and enable the safe loading of LNG and condensate.
